Equine-assisted programs are often used alongside other forms of support and have helped many veterans reconnect, build trust, and reduce stress. Ten years ago, Warrior Ranch Foundation was founded to do just that. Located on the eastern end of Long Island, Warrior Ranch began as a modest 501 (c) (3) nonprofit organization with a compassionate mission and one horse.
Today, Warrior Ranch Foundation allows veterans and first responders to join us in caring for the animals. They form connections with each other and our horses through trust-building experiences within our supportive community. Many of our horses were rescued from neglect or were at risk of being put down. Others were former racehorses and now have a safe home to live out their lives in a community focused on emotional well-being. Likewise, our Ranch provides a place for veterans and first responders to interact and support one another as they embark on a journey to rehabilitate, retrain, and repurpose horses.
Warrior Ranch offers full-day clinics, mostly on weekends, with expert coaches teaching veterans and first responders everything from when it is safe to approach the horses to how to interact with them when grooming, walking, and feeding. These experiences are known to create strong bonds while participants extend restorative compassion to our animals.
Warrior Ranch is more than a ranch-it's a community where strength isn't forged only in the challenging worlds of our first responders and military---it's found in connection.
Any donation you can make helps to provide life-changing equine experiences for our animals and those who served. Go to warriorranchfoundation.org
